Dear Mrs. Sterling:
I am writing to you because of the amount of homework you give out. I disagree with you. At this present time we have three big assignments out, and due all around the same time. First we have the colony project, which takes a lot of time and devotion. Second we have the business letter, we have to rewrite several times until it is close to perfect, this also takes a lot of time. Third we have the community service project, which requires five hours of after school time. It also requires an essay and an oral presentation.
I think having this much homework is a major problem. We become overwhelmed with school and the amount of homework you give out. We have other classes that also give out homework. If I start my homework at three thirty, sometimes I don’t get done until 10 or 11o’clock. We need our sleep to be able to listen and be alert at school.
My solution to this problem is to spread out the homework assignments. For example, the first week have the colony project and our weekly homework given out. After the colony project is due give the business letter and weekly homework out, and so on. Recently you have said that no one got an A in your class. If you use my solution , more people may get better grads. They won’t be as overwhelmed, and they might listen more to your lessons.
A second reason why my solution might work is you will still be able to give out your assignments, but we will have more time to do other things after your homework. Such as homework from other classes, and our social life. We have to work hard for other classes to get good grades also.
My third and final reason why I think my solution will work is we will have more time to live our childhood. We can’t learn everything from school work. We need to be able have experiences and learn from our mistakes. We can’t do this when we are stuck at school and inside all day doing homework.
I know that the school board requires you to give out a certain amount of homework. I would really appreciate it if you could bring this issue up at a meeting, or do what you can to help fix this problem. Thank you for your concern.
Sincerely,
Ashlie
