Course Outline
STANDARDS FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION - GRADE 8
By the end of eighth grade, each student should be able to demonstrate the following:
- 1.0 Applies the correct skill techniques to a variety of team activities.
- 2.1 Applies previous learning in the learning of a new skill.
- 2.2 Analyzes movement performance using spin and rebound.
- 2.3 Creates a team game.
- 3.0 Sets personal goals and monitors progress in physical activities.
- 4.0 Assesses personal fitness and refines one-week personal fitness plan.
- 5.0 Collaboratively solves problems in physical activity settings.
- 6.1 Analyzes how height and weight alter performance and the selection of activities.
- 6.2 Describes movement activities in the United States during the 19th and 20th centuries.
- 7.0 Appreciates someone else's approach to movement activities.

- Introduction and fitness foundations including Fitness Lab
- Outdoor Education including Hiking, Orienteering and Rock Climbing
- Project Adventure including Team Building Activities
- Invasion Team Sports
- Team Net Sports
- Team Field Sports
- Dance including Square Dance and Partner Dancing
