Dear Mayor,
Hi, my name is Brad and I am a teen who walks on the streets of Windsor to get home from school. I mean the "street" because there are some places where there are no sidewalks. Even in my neighborhood, there are no sidewalks.
I go to Windsor Middle School. A lot of other kids and I walk to and from school on Old Redwood . I’m sure you have seen a lot of kids walking on Old Redwood on the side of the road. This is a problem in Windsor because cars go as fast as 35 miles an hour or more. Any student could get hit by passing cars.
This happens in Windsor and in Santa Rosa, by the Elsie Allen High School, to name a few.
An example of what could happen is a freshman at Elsie Allen High School walked home from school along Bellevue Ave. He was struck and killed. He was walking along the edge of the rural road in southwest Santa Rosa, where construction of a walkway was postponed because of recent rains.
A solution to this problem is that maybe you could put some sidewalks on Old Redwood in Windsor. I’m sure somewhere else in Windsor there are no sidewalks. There is a street that goes approximately 3 miles from school to houses without a sidewalk where kids walk from school. I don’t want one of my friends to get struck and killed. Also, I don’t want it to happen to me either.
In conclusion I hope you do something about it before one of my friends gets hit by a vehicle.
Sincerely,
Brad
