Constitution Project

     Create a scrap book of pictures and articles about the federal government and government officials.  You will organize it so that the articles relating to the legislative branch are grouped together in one section, articles about the executive branch are grouped together, and articles about the judicial branchare grouped together.  The project will also include articles that pertain to any five different amendments in the Bill of Rights.  The last pages should display political cartoons showing any two different branches of government. 


1.  Create 5 sections of the scrap book. Pages should be 8.5 X 11".
    a) Legislative Branch
    b) Executive Branch
    c) Judicial Branch
    d) Bill of Rights
    e) Political cartoons
2.  Glue or tape each article with its headline neatly to a page within its proper section. 
    a) 7 - 10 articles for each branch of government
    b) 5 - 10 articles pertaining to the Bill of Rights.  Use each of 5 amendments only once except for the first amendment, which may be used twice.
    c)  2 political cartoons
    d) You may use only one internet article per branch and only one internet source for the Bill of Rights section.
    e) No editorials allowed
3.  Highlight or circle at least 3 key sentences from each article that show to which branch the article belongs.  Do not highlight more than one branch within one article.
4.  Under each amendment article, write the amendment's number and explain why you think it pertains to the amendment.
5.  Number the articles 1- 10 for each section.  Number amendments 1 - 10.
6.  The last pages should include two political cartoons showing any two different branches of government.  Label each branch.
7.  Formatting:
    a) Number each page within the scrap book continuously at the bottom of the page. 
    b) Create a table of contents indicating on which page each section begins.
    c) Create a title page.
    d)
The first sheet is the grading sheet; put the grading sheet before the title page.
8.  Buy or make a folder.  Do not use a three ring binder. Neatly staple or insert all necessary pages and bind them.  Do not use plastic sheet protectors.
